Symptoms of Malware Infection

The following are the common symptoms of infection with malware i.e. viruses, trojans, etc.

• Home page has changed
• Search engines produce strange results
• Popups, particularly ones that tell you your machine is infected!
• Browsing the internet is much slower than normal
• General slowness
• Random crashes
• Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs are disabled
• New unrecognised shortcuts appear on the desktop and/or elsewhere
• New toolbars on Internet Explorer
• Other unexplained odd behaviour

If your machine is showing any of these signs (especially the first three) there is a good chance it is infected. If your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs cannot remove it, back up your data immediately and contact us to fix it.
